Digital High - The new drug for teens!
Has anyone heard of this? It was on our local news this week and I sat there with my mouth wide open.......Lord, come quickly!
http://www.wmctv.com/Global/story.asp?S=12608664 Digital Drugs: The new way teens are getting high CHARLES, LA (KPLC-TV/WMC-TV) - It's a new trend most adults have not heard of, but it is appearing in some parts of the country: teenagers trying to get a high using nothing more than sounds. To get these so-called 'digital drugs,' you don't need a street dealer. You don't even need a prescription. All you need to gain access to digital drugs is a computer, a credit card and a pair of headphones. These sound files are sold by a company known as I-Doser. Starting with just a couple of dollars, anyone can download these sounds, which I-Doser says will alter people's moods, making them feel uplifted, even more confident. But other sounds promise to make listeners feel like they're on drugs, from cocaine to crystal meth and speed, and everything in between. These digital sounds are nothing more than binaural beats, which have been around for a long time. Binaural beats are created when two different sounds are played at slightly different frequencies in each ear. The differing frequencies create a pulse sensation, or beats, which some people believe give them the illusion they're on drugs. Binaural beats were created in the 1830's, and have been used in the military and by doctors to help patients with hearing problems. |

I suspect that the real problems will arise when the credit card bills arrive... still, let's see...
They include "Alcohol" and "Content" with the free download. Don't know if by "Content" they mean the noun or the transitive verb, so I went with "Alcohol." It's 9:00 in the morning and I can pretend like I'm Cary Grant - if it works. Mild buzzing sound. Keep in mind that I am hearing impaired to start with, so your results may vary. You may even want to wait and try "Alcohol" at 9:00 at night. |

... well, duh! Go through the tutorial... By "Content" they meant the transitive verb. If I get all wasted because of this I'm going to mad... no, I'll just play "Content."
... because if I do get all wasted then it means this thing works. |

You really need to be actually doing something here... I thought that there'd be cool new age music with subliminals like the Neural Linguistic Programming fad. This is just a crazy hum. Maybe they should have labeled it "Psychotic" because that's how I'm being to feel.

Since it is an actual digital download can I assume that you can listen to it as often as you want? If you listen enough the prorated costs can go down to just pennies a hit! Sounds like a bargain to me..... If it wasn't snake oil to begin with.

The left side of the "binaural" sound is producing that low electronic strumming sound that segues into helicopters on Pink Floyd's The Wall. The right side seems to modulate up and down after several minutes.
Now there's a reverberating ring that may just be my own response to the monotony. |

I'm about half way through "Alcohol," and you know how I love the snake oil. |
