Re: Mark Lowry - recovering Fundamentalist
Wow! Poor guy he loves Jesus Christ but he is subject to the wrath of Hell, because he did not get the revelation of the Bapstim of water and Spirit.
This one of the reasons why I left because I did not understand how that people would be sent to Hell that probally Jesus Christ more than myself but because I knew the secret door knock and handshake God would call me to His rest as a faithful servent and not the other brothers and sisters. That's why I am a recovering Pharisee! |

Re: Mark Lowry - recovering Fundamentalist
I thought it was pathetic. We dont know what he was taught, how he perceived it or lived it. If he was a Protestant Evangelical he may have been taught to accept Jesus and dont try to add anything to that.
The Apostle Paul reproves "jesting" he would do better to get a job than make a living off mocking people. |
Re: Mark Lowry - recovering Fundamentalist
I like the fact that he said he started reading the "red letter" version of the Bible. The Word is the truth that will bring light into your darkness. And our great God is definitely one full of great mercy and grace.
But, like MTD, I think the problem I have with this video, is that grace is perceived as something freely offered out, with nothing given in return. This is not the case, and I fear for people in most of the churches espousing this doctrine. Grace is free, and mercy is free, but the REASON we are given the grace and the mercy of God is to TRANSFORM our lives so that we can be even as He is. We must be striving to put on HIS holiness, and not through our own fleshly works, but through his Spirit. If only grace is preached, a huge, wide open chasm remains for those who don't realize that with grace comes a change in your life. You will never be the same again. You will not continue to wallow in your sins and fleshly nature. The grace and mercy of God is freely given to us in order to change us from the inside out. I fear that most Christians think that continual sinning is just fine because of God's grace and mercy covers all sin, and indeed it does cover sin, but wilful, unrepentant sin? No. Sin is only covered by the blood of Jesus in a repentant heart that turns away from that sin, and allows Jesus to transform his heart. Indeed, His love, mercy and grace cover our sins, but we must allow that love, grace and mercy to begin to transform our lives, to where we are producing FRUIT of the spirit. Grace, love, forgiveness, mercy are all free.... but because of the great debt of appreciaton in our hearts, we must live each day allowing the spirit of Jesus to transform our sinful nature to be like Him. Titus 3:4-8The good works we must maintain are that of producing fruit of the spirit, which ONLY can be produced by the spirit of Jesus indwelling us, not by our fleshly works. |
Re: Mark Lowry - recovering Fundamentalist
Paul is very clear on Grace and sin.
Romans: 1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? I understand about Grace and not just throwing it around, because Grace cost Jesus Christ everything. How about how often do we push Grace in our own lives? Maybe with attitudes or in the lack forgiveness for others, what about on the freeway during very unholy ghost moment? It is good that God has not snatched Grace from us even though we may hear fire and brimstone on Sundays. What I enjoyed was him starting to see the rest of the body of the Bride. |

Quote:
Does the true body of Christ believe in 3 co equal, co eternal persons that are each one God separate and distinct from the other? And consider this. The Protestant Evangelical Church almost universally recognizes itself as the body of Christ. Baptist, Lutheran, Brethren, Methodists and almost any of those groups think if you believe in the Trinity and you have "accepted" Christ you are in the body. On the other hand they probably almost UNANOMOUSLY would say that Oneness Pentecostals are NOT a part of the body of Christ. |
