Major Discrepancy!!!
Mark 14:12
King James Version (KJV) 12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover? Mark 14:17-25 Passover meal celebrated. Communion instituted. Mark 14:32, 43 Jesus arrested. Mark 14:53 Jesus to Sanhedrin. Mark 15:1 15 And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate. Mark 15:25 Jesus crucified.(day after passover meal) NOW COMPARED TO JOHN John 19:14-16 King James Version (KJV) 14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! 15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. 16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. In john jesus is crucified on the day before the passover. In Mark it is the morning after passover. Was john trying to make jesus the sacrificial passover lamb? if john is correct, communion was never instituted by Christ. which is it bible inerrancy scholars??? |
Re: Major Discrepancy!!!
passover day is from sunset to sunset. in mark jesus is crucified the morning after passover meal the evening before. In John he is crucified the sixth hour of preparation which could be the first part of passover evening. or john could mean he was crucified the following morning after passover but either way in john there is no passover meal because jesus was under arrest on the day of preparation according to john 19:14.

Re: Major Discrepancy!!!
futher proof of discrepancy: pharisees don't want defilement before passover meal during trial of jesus. it is clear in john that jesus was already under arrest before evening of passover meal.
John 18:28 King James Version (KJV) 28 Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. |

All the circumstances, also, lead us to suppose that he observed it at the usual time and manner, Mat_26:17, Mat_26:19. The only passage which has led to a contrary opinion is this in John; but here the word passover does not, of necessity, mean the paschal lamb. It probably refers to the Feast which followed the sacrifice of the lamb, and which continued seven days. Compare Num_28:16-17. The whole feast was called the Passover, and they were unwilling to defile themselves, even though the paschal lamb had been killed, because it would disqualify them for participating in the remainder of the ceremonies (Lightfoot). |

No conflict, the Last Supper was NOT 'the passover meal'. |
