Introduction
Hello,
My name is Relax. I'm a 22 year old Canadian, who goes to an ALJCC church. I don't do much as I'm on disability for mental health related stuff. I do take one college course at a time though - aiming for a couple business related certificates. I'm also slowly saving up for a car, and trying to work on myself. I still live with my parents which is pretty sad imo. I recently started to repent again, and am hoping to connect with other people of Acts 2:38 belief who will help me stand firm in faith. |
Re: Introduction
Hi Relax, welcome to the forum.
You mentioned wanting to connect with people who will help you stand firm in your faith. Let me mention that this is a discussion/debate forum where you will encounter some people who will be supportive and some who will argue with you. Take some of what you read with a grain of salt. |

Re: Introduction
Thank you for the welcome and warnings, sisters.
Do you know who would be good to talk to for teaching? (I talk to my pastor but I feel as its' the internet I'll have the confidence to ask basically any question which I think will be helpful). I've been baptized in Jesus name, am repenting but have yet to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. |
Re: Introduction
You need a good relationship with your church family.
They are the ones who know you and care for you and are likely teaching you foundational doctrine. This forum has some talented teachers who would be able to answer your questions, but, what you really need is personal discipleship. |
Re: Introduction
What does discipleship look like logistically?
I currently attend two services almost every Sunday, and a bible study every other Wednesday. My pastor will meet me for coffee once every week or two, and he's very receptive to questions through text. Is all this discipleship? |
Re: Introduction
I like your comment that you are currently repenting. Sounds like you have a good concept of what true repentance is. I will be praying for you as you seek Him. One thing that may assist you is to get some good books that would provide a solid biblical foundation. One that I would recommend would be "Doctrine Does Matter" by O.C. Marler. A good autobiography that may be encouraging to you is "Journey of a Lifetime" by Bro Larry Booker. It is an account of his early life and conversion. Tremendous man of God that pastored a large Apostolic church in Rialto, CA. "The New Birth" by David Bernard, "Apostolic Foundations" by Crawford Coon and "Dividing the Word of Truth" by Ralph Reynolds would all be excellent resources.

Because we don't know, and you don't know us. The people around you "pastor, and church family" know you and interact with you. They are the very best individuals to tell you what discipleship looks like. Because they are the ones discipling you. We have discussions, and arguments here, about EVERYTHING. We are not here to give you advise on your personal life. We will, and it will be posted in reams of thread pages. But as Sister Amanah said, it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I say that you believe absolutely nothing posted here or anywhere else on the internet. All must be questioned and discussed with your pastor, the leadership in your home church family. Enjoy yourself while you are here, and the Lord bless you in Jesus name. :thumbsup |
