Jewish theology uses Amalek and Edom to refer to the non Jewish civilizations. Edom specifically is their term for western, European Christendom.

The irony is of course missed by most Jews and Christians.

Israel was created by Dispensationalist and Dispensationalist leaning Christians.

Israel is a country which is for Jews, no matter where those Jews were born, or where they currently live. Even if the Jew doesn't care about Israel, that Jew can by "the law of return" go to live in Israel. In the dispensationalist eschatological hope that one day a holocaust which would eclipse the Holocaust of the Nazis against the Jews, can happen. This event will bring the return of Jesus Christ. If that means the utter extermination of every Palestinian (be they Jewish, Christian, or Muslim) so be it. The United States which was raised by the Scofield Bible, and Clarence Larkin Charts (of every size and color scheme) have an immediate pavlovian response to anything Israeli. Israel has a right to defend itself, immediately is accepted to mean they can freely without withstraint, obliterate any group that opposes them. Gaza can be rubbed out into a greasy spot, and sadly American Christians will shout, speak in tongues, run the pews while shouting Genesis 12:1–3. American/British Dispensationalism shoots itself in the foot. It is the true Replacement Theology, replacing Jesus and His Kingdom with a Modern Nation which adopted a Biblical name, and parades around as the Biblical Covenant people. The Dispensationalist Christian is just a plan B, not the Apple of God's eye, and certainly not the great nation of Genesis 12:1–3.
