Question for those who know something about the stock market-

If you had a small amount of money to invest, say $1000, what would you invest in for longterm investment?

Good idea.

Sony? Magnavox?

Great, I can't even think of other TV manufacturers. LOL

Where is J-Roc when we need him? He's the financial guru of AFF.

Or a wanna be financial advisor works for me.

I've just seriously never cared to invest- but my husband's 401K keeps sending letters saying we need to choose where to invest it. I don't have a clue, and I don't want to lose the investment.

That would depend on what level of risk you are interested in. When you invest in stocks, there is always a certain level of risk. You may loose part of your investment should the stock fall.
If you just want a safe place, the best bet is a govt. bond, or a long term cd at the bank.

Listen carefully please stay out of the market. It is moving extremely fast and no one who does not have the proper understanding of the market should be involved. Also if you were looking to make money then I would suggest that you work hard at whatever you know well, and see the blessing of the Lord. There are so many conflicting thoughts on the market right now I would strongly suggest that amateurs steer clear of the Greeks, the Bulls and the Bears. :)

Also anyone who would try to get stock market advice from the Apostolic Friends Forum should most certainly stay out of the market.

We have invested in Roth IRA's, I believe they are very safe. Personally, I'd call a local financial advisor before I did anything with a 401k.

So Bingo Night hasn't really worked out as an investment for you, E.B.?
