Re: Tongues- A sign or THE sign Of Spirit Infillin

Early Oneness Pentecostals were shy about this topic.

Haywood never had a policy or statement about this issue.

But, Morse and Bartleman had no problem ministering along with trinitarians.

Re: Tongues- A sign or THE sign Of Spirit Infillin

Based on my aging memory :), one could argue that John never wrote or mentioned or referred to glosslalia at all.

But I could be wrong.

I see no indicators in Jn. 3:8 that insist that...

Re: Tongues- A sign or THE sign Of Spirit Infillin

John chapter 3 says nothing about glossolalia.

Paul discusses the use of vocal gifts in the church, but he does not mention anything about tongues being evidence of Spirit infilling.

Re: Justification = Salvation

Back in Bible college, Dan Segraves taught us we are justified by faith. Paul may have mentioned it as well.

Segraves said we do not believe in baptismal regeneration.

We are justified by faith. Not by works. Not by baptism. Only by faith.

Justification=salvation.

Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0

In Jesus Name by David Reed.

Only one reference to Harry Morse, but it should be an interesting read.

A handful of copies of the Apostolic Herald (PCI) came in the post today. They are from 1929, 1930, 1934, 1936 and 1945.

Included are a few articles penned by Harry Morse. A picture of Harry and...

Re: Women Wearing Pants

Yes. Professor Myrick taught ed psych and Greek literature at CLC from around 1970-2005.

She was an ordained minister with the UPC.

She actually had a degree in Hellenistic Greek literature.

BDAG is the only lexicon I use. It is the one our Greek professor, MaryLou Myrick recommended to us.

Re: Women Wearing Pants

Right and wrong behavior needs to be based on something other than the law of Moses.

What I wear and how I dress depends on which cultural context I find myself in.

Re: Women Wearing Pants

It is not a sin to be in violation of the law of Moses.

Work on the sabbath, eat lobster and mix seeds in your fields.

Re: Women Wearing Pants

My focus is on the interpretation, not the application of Deut. 22:5.

Taking a verse out of context is intellectually dishonest. Or, to state it in a more mild way, it is bad hermeneutics.

Re: Women Wearing Pants

So does the verse that teaches eating lobster and shrimp is an abomination. If Deut. 22:5 is to be kept, then keep all the rules described as abominations.

All the rules of the law of Moses are...
