Re: 7th Day Sabbath not for New Testament believer

Man will not discover his duty to God and his neighbour strictly by "conscience", which is why God gave His Word. Man is not to be trusted with determining right and wrong, it requires Divine...

Re: 7th Day Sabbath not for New Testament believer

The thing is, everybody except the catholics claim the Waldensians as a single movement, and as identical to their own faith and praxis. Preble seems to think the Albigensians, Paulicians, and...

Re: 7th Day Sabbath not for New Testament believer

He makes the same argument in regard to Novatians, Donatists, Paulicians, and other groups.

Re: 7th Day Sabbath not for New Testament believer

His "correction" is based on his claim the Waldensians were separate from the Roman Church but always observed Sunday, so therefore Sunday-keeping is not the Papal mark of the beast. He quotes...

Re: 7th Day Sabbath not for New Testament believer

p185 (chapter 6) he opens with "J. N. Andrews in his pretended History of the Sabbath...."

He then sets about to "correct" certain claims made about Constantine and pope Sylvester. Is this what...

Re: 7th Day Sabbath not for New Testament believer

On p 36 he argues Christ did NOT fulfill the Passover (that is still future).

Argues the old testament law (all of it) was repealed and replaced by the "new testament law", same as the...

Re: Can/Should Christians Be Democrats?

Scott, you ever find that evidence everyone's been asking you for?

Re: Can/Should Christians Be Democrats?

We need more of that evidence you seem to think you have that Trump and the Russians convinced the GOP to poison the drinking water so women would miscarry. Amirite?

Re: Can/Should Christians Be Democrats?

Nation and state are interrelated, however. Most every nation has its own state. Which is a natural byproduct of God's created order. The problems start when the state rebels against God, or tries to...

Re: Can/Should Christians Be Democrats?

The devil offered Him the kingdoms, not the nations. There is a difference, as I pointed out. A nation is a people. A kingdom is a government. Additionally, "the devil is a liar", so there is no...

I'll skim through to see what he says about that.

Re: Can/Should Christians Be Democrats?

Nations are NOT a "man-made construct". Nations are God-made:

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before...

Re: 7th Day Sabbath not for New Testament believer

Concerning the "transferance" of the Sabbath from the seventh day to the first day of the week, I never understood the Protestant reasoning. I mean, I get it, I just don't see how anyone could fall...

Re: 7th Day Sabbath not for New Testament believer

I'm kind of not interested in reading Preble's work any further. I mean, if these specious "arguments" are the sort of thing I have to look forward to, it's going to be very poor fare indeed. :)

Re: 7th Day Sabbath not for New Testament believer

His first argument begins by assuming the Sabbath is the Jewish Sabbath of the seventh day of the week. Interesting since in his introduction he tried to cast doubt on the idea that the seventh day...

Re: William Wallace Everts - The Sabbath: its perm

Based on the first page, in which he asks the reader 7 questions, it looks like his reasoning follows this path:

God never specified the 7th day of the week, just one every seven days regardless...

Re: The Sabbath Day, Should You Keep or not Keep?

That would be good thread to start.

Of course, it will be immediately taken over by people arguing about clothing, hair, makeup, jewelry, and television. :)

Re: Thoughts on what brings God's blessings

While it's true that a resurrected body will not have corrupted appetites, thus a major source of temptation will have been removed, yet not all temptation is due to the physical body. Moreover,...

Re: Thoughts on what brings God's blessings

I don't believe God's holy angels rebelled and fell from grace. I believe that is a dangerous Jewish heresy rebuked by both Peter and Jude.

But besides that, sinners on the day of judgment suffer...

Re: Thoughts on what brings God's blessings

Physically dying does not free anyone from the law of sin and death:

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
