I just wanted to drop in and say that Sister Cindy was a sweet lady, and Sarilda and I are praying for the family.
Blessings to all.

Please accept my apologies.
Why is that such an objectionable form of address, just out of curiousity?

Re: You Might Be a Pharisee If...
Chancellor used to love to use that very vivid metaphor for self righteousness. :)
He used to get infacted for it.
He called me a "crazed maniac" pretty regular.

I have been singularly blessed in that the precious saints I have served as pastor have treated me with kindness and respect.
I have very, very few horror stories to tell.
It may not be...

Re: Prodigal Son Distorted by FB Pastor
I think you are confusing who the author is.
It isn't Luke.
You have accused me of "screaming," and now I am lazy. :)
Why get personal?

Re: Prodigal Son Distorted by FB Pastor
Who is "screaming?"
My tone in this discussion has been nothing resembling emotional.
And when it comes to the Bible, I really don't "play."
This isn't just an intellectual journey for me.

I'm not interested in playing "my commentator can lick your commentator."
It is obvious that we approach the Bible from such totally different paradigms that a fruitful discussion is unlikely.

Re: Prodigal Son Distorted by FB Pastor
The Father gave the verdict on the elder brother. "All that I have is thine."
That is pretty conclusive.

Re: Prodigal Son Distorted by FB Pastor
Luke recorded the words of Jesus.
He wasn't "conveying" some authorial viewpoint.
God is the author.

Re: Prodigal Son Distorted by FB Pastor
Sister, the Bible is its own best interpreter.
Real arrogance is thinking that the words of some trinitarian commentator trump the clear statements of the Word itself.

Re: Prodigal Son Distorted by FB Pastor
Trying to paint the elder brother as lost requires that we add to the Scripture.
He needed some compassion, for sure.
But the inheritance was his. He was a true, fully vested son. Nothing lost...

Re: The Role of a Pastor
The Scripture never contradicts itself.
Line upon line, precept upon precept.
We have to take it all. The Bible isn't a buffet where we select what we like and pass on the rest.

Re: Prodigal Son Distorted by FB Pastor
My views of the Prodigal Son parable have been developed by reading the parable itself without first donning the lense of religious philosophers who have an agenda to support.

The implications of those...

Re: 4given@Repentance If You're Still Goin 2 Hell?
Simple.
Do a study on repentance, just from the Scripture alone.
You will find that it is far more than just simply confessing your sin.
Someone who has never been born again and doesn't...

The doctrine of confession and forgiveness is often confused with repentance.

Re: The Role of a Pastor
