First Church (Becton's) is liberal by UPC standards but with important distinctions from Christ Church. I think that is true in most UPC churches in TN. Leaders are expected
to live the standards, and for the most part church members are to, but
they will still be fellowshipped and accepted in the congregation if they
do not uphold the standards, only they wouldn't be placed in a position
of leadership.
