Woohoo, a blessed thought just hit me. Jesus said He would not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. LIVING by the word meant relying on it and living life that behaves as though that WORD was true. He just heard the Father tell him forty days beforehand that HE WAS HIS BELOVED SON. To LIVE by the word would be to NOT PROVE His Sonship to anyone, but have the confidence that HE IS SON just because the WORD SAID HE WAS!
Also, Jesus was told He was wellpleasing before having done one miracle or preaching one sermon. We do not have to prove ourselves as pleasing to God by performance!
