Re: Recommending Books
Most all books written by Phillip Yancy, great reads for all Christians, especially those that struggle with doubt, and with the pain in the world.
Most books on history by David McCullough, if you would like a refresher course on American History, David will help you with that. "John Adams", "1776", "Truman" and "The Path Between the Seas", the history of the building of the Panama Canal is outstanding.
If you are interested in sciense, especially if you need to broaden your view of science in relation to scripture: All of Gerald Schroeder's books are a great introduction, I could hardly put the down. "Genesis and the Big Bang", The discovery of harmony between modern science and the Bible. My favorite: "The Hidden Face of God" Science reveals the ultimate truth. And "God According to God". I don't know that I agree with all of his ideas, but it opened a whole new world to me.
I have read all of the above and recommend them all. If you are interested in God's ultimate purpose in His greatest workmanship: Man! Then dig into the study of Universal Reconciliation with an open mind to hear and know God as He really is.
