Mt. Zion Apostolic Church traces its history to the early 20th century, beginning in 1922. Founded as a small mission by Pastor Lillian Mason, the church had its humble beginnings in Norwood on Indianapolis’ south side, worshiping in a railroad boxcar, a converted pool hall, and other storefront buildings for nearly 30 years. Receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost and answering the call of God after a deathbed healing, Pastor Mason went out into the streets of Norwood inviting people into her home at 1206 Earhart Street for prayer meetings.
