Ephesians 5:25-27
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Paul spells it out. We must be holy and without blemish.
Same as saying we need to be without sin.

True Michael, but this is a hard thing to obtain and teach to most people. I think that it's hard for most people for a few reasons, one is that they don't always look at sin in the same way, and they keep looking for this laundry list of dos and don't, that if they just follow those things, they're living without sin. It's not just your works that has to be perfect, it has to come from your heart. And you can't say you have it in your heart, without the works to back it up; it all goes together.
Also people surround their selves constantly with worldly things, or things that aren't spiritual, or things that aren't really pertaining to the lust and cares of this world or to the spirit, but it'll draw your attention away from the spirit just the same. If you constantly have these nonspiritual things around you, or surround yourself with non-spiritual things, or even if you try to have an equal amount of both, you're of course going to be drawn towards the flesh (sinful) side, because the flesh is weak, and will always lean towards the fleshly, carnal side.
If people surrounded their self (as much as they could while living in this world) with things pertaining to the spirit, or that which is conducive to holy living everyday, and all day, surrounded by the word, with constant prayer, and praise going up to God, fastings, reading the word, receiving the word preached, being in service of Holy Ghost seekers, talking about the word and of God's mighty acts, talking about the bible, and going after God and receiving miracles and testimonies from God, going out and telling of this way to others, doing charity, spreading the word, doing good works, and having the encouragement of like minded people who are doing the same, you will find that the journey to living a sinless, or perfected life is not as impossible as they continue to make it out to be.
And doing these things, you'll find out that with this things, have the spirit leading and guiding you, you'll have more strength to withstand temptation, and to fight whatever the devil brings your way to draw you away from your walk.
