TO MY CREDIT, I carried on a conversation while looking them straight in the eyes. I never blinked and they didn't mention the obvious. However, I'm sure the red was flooding up from my neck to my forehead while I stood there pretending there was nothing awry in my grocery cart. There's no telling what they thought or said after they left, but hopefully it was something along the lines of, "I'll bet she's baking up some beer bread!!!" 
Btw, in Oklahoma, you have to go to an actual liquor store to buy anything other than beer or wine coolers.
Moral of the story: Now JEFF goes to the store and buys whatever liquor we require. I refuse to buy it anymore. This is probably a selfish choice, I admit it.  |
That is a great story MissB... I thought you might have one like that up your sleeve, since you cook with alcohol quite a bit. I love it!
Confession time... the only alcohol I have in our house is a bottle of wine that came to us as a gift. We had invited friends over to dinner, and they asked if they could bring along a single mom who was a friend of theirs. Of course, I was glad to add another place at the table. She showed up, and in her hands was a bottle of wine with a nice gift tag. She placed it on the table. I guess she expected us to put it to good use. LOL. (We didn't.)
We still have that bottle of wine, lol. So... I'm thinking of dusting it off, and proudly displaying while I'm cooking, as I think of your story at the grocery store
