In 2009 my self employment income was cut by a third. As a step of faith I began to tithe off of my gross BUSINESS income instead of tithing on my salary.
In late 2011 by business tanked completely. Money I could have set aside to cushion the blow had gone to the church. In 2012 I made only 8000 dollars with a wife and two kids. I gave 300 dollars to the church that year. You would have thought I had backslid or something. The pastor knew of my situation and yet I was still ridiculed for "getting behind" on my tithing.
Do any of you pro tithe folks want to to step up to the plate and say I was stealing from God? Nobody offered to pay my bills or feed my family. If it had not been for some TRINITARIAN Pentecostals who heard of our plight, we would not have had a Christmas that year.

I feel you. Sometimes it takes hardship for us to realize certain things. The good thing is now you know that the pastor was not following the Spirit.
