Benincasa says......

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when maturity in Christ is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.(Benincasa says maturity "puts away childish things" as in the "partial" Gifts here.)

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Actually he is closer to the true understanding of this passage then you are!
I wonder just how you read sometimes. Or if you can read. Oh I know you can read words, but when they are put into sentences longer than "see Jane run" you mind must go in to hyper drive.

You laugh at the thought that maturity puts away childish things? But that is just what Paul states in the verse 11. When I became a man, I put away childish things.
Another thing you might not grasp is that nowhere does it say tongues will cease not prophecy, nor knowledge. Paul is comparing these to Charity, saying that Charity will never fail.
Paul wraps the whole thing up by saying, three things abide forever, Faith, hope and Charity, and the greatest of these is Charity.
