Fact is that I have been a Houston fan since they were the Colt 45s and before that I rooted for the Cardinals and before that I wasn't. 
I was the only kid on my Little League team that didn't fight over #7. I preferred Johnny Bench's #5 after he won Rookie of the year in 1968. I caught for my entire career ( age 7 to 13; 1966-1974) so I was partial to catchers and he was a NLer so that really made it right. One of the first catchers for the Colt 45s was my cousin twice removed, John Bateman! Must be in the blood! |
