Gentlemen (using that term loosely),

Check out this website and music of these Apostolic kids from Chicago, nephews of Jorge and Joel Montes (Joel's married to Linda Quiroz).

Kewl.

About 3 or 4 years ago, while I was visiting Jorge in Chicago, they approached me to lament that their pastor and ministers were very critical of their music. I suggested that next time they were subjected to that, that they sit their elders down, and play that old wonderful song, "Que lindo es mi Cristo" (How Beautiful is my Christ). After the tears of remembrace flowed and the hands were raised, stop the music, and inform the brothers in nostalgic rapture that the rhythm is BOLERO, the most carnal and worldly music of its era, the 1930-40s; it was of Afro-Cuban derivation, and took Mexico by storm through radio and famous guitar trios like Los Panchos. Bolero also invaded the Apostolic church. "Que lindo es mi Cristo" is one of the most erotic love songs to God (think Song of Solomon set to romantic music). Now, we remember that tune as an old sacred hymn.

Prophets without honor in their own country, the guys are now touring in Central America. Go figure.

Jon and Joe, give them some radio play.

Another great Apostolic Rock en Espan~ol group is Rojo, progeny of the Espinosa (Culiacan, Sinaloa) and Moreno (Tijuana/Tucson) clans. Amazing stuff.
