Absolutely, it was the central theme of the gospel message. Christ died to
grant repentance and remission of sins. The apostles preached his name
everywhere they went.
Peter's message to Cornelius household concluded with the words "To Him
give all the prophets witness, that through His name, whosoever believeth in
Him shall receive remission of sins. While Peter yet spake these words the
Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word."
This makes me think of Romans chapter 10, "Faith cometh by hearing and
hearing by the Word of God."
