You know, God says "My ways are not your ways, neither are my thoughts your thoughts"...I wonder how often we rely on our own thoughts and hold onto them so much in certain areas that we can't even "hear" the voice of God speaking to us? Sure we might hear it in other areas or times, but when it comes to the things that have been "burned" as it were into our psyche...and we are holding on to like a tiger to a kill.....can we hear or discerned the thoughts of God?
Would it be better to try to always be unassuming about things?
BTW the "burn" analogy....if you know anything about how CPUs and those kinds of circuits are made you'll understand it. It's also how addicts get addicted mentally, besides physically...especially sexual addicts. They associate that endorphin release with something like porn and it "burns" that into their minds. It takes a lot to erase that and start over...God can do it but we have to allow him and be open and honest with ourselves and Him
