I try very hard to make it a habit to say what I mean and mean what I say...but that doesn't mean I haven't needed to edit or rethink things I have said, and I'm quite thankful in a couple of cases that I had the opportunity to either delete or have a post deleted by Admin.
I understand to a point, and I think the one-hour window (or however long it is) is a pretty good compromise.
What is very annoying is when someone deletes a post, not because they regretted it, but because they don't want to be held accountable for what they said, and I think that is what HO is trying to say.
It's one thing to say: I shouldn't have said that; I'm sorry; can we undo it? And quite another to say: If I don't delete that I'm going to get into trouble--someone please save my hind end.
