Once a post is read, those words can't be taken back even if the post is deleted. Apologies can be made, corrective action taken but ultimately the words can not be taken back. The damages are done.
Sure, we all make mistakes. And as adults we should accept responsibility for our own actions...good or bad.
Running to Admin to delete our mistakes after damages are done does NOT constitute "accepting responsibility for our own actions". IMO, this is a cop out. Responsible people do what they can to make things right, apologize, change their ways, etc. The deletion of our mistakes doesn't address the damages already done. Responsible people address their own damages.
