Preachers...Here's Some INFO for you Concerning your Kids...

On another Forum I participate on there was a thread concerning "Training Up A Child".. and conversation flowed into Preachers Kids... and I posted some of my Thoughts concerning PK's...and Parents... just some pointers..

Here they are:
My perspective is Family is much more important than the Ministry...

You were called but your kids weren't they are along for the ride..

Many place a calling their kids lives before God does.. probably with
complete innocence...

Many sacrifice their kids on the altars of ministry and never look back and then
wonder why their kids never call or write...

I do think the Being a Minister and a Dad *anybody can be a father* is a balance beam...

Don't think your kids enjoy doing what you like to do all the time... they may say they enjoy..pretend to enjoy it because they want you happy...and it doesn't mean they don't but do something they like to do....

Don't gossip or talk about other Ministers with your kids present and tell them what is said in the family stays in the family...because you are doing them a great disservice before they become teens...and become cynical about the ministry..

Don't tell them they represent you and WHO you are...they need to know that being a Christian and representing who HE is; is the most important position there is in the Kingdom...

Being a PK is living in a glass house...true... but pull the shades every once in a while and let the kids be kids...

Pray at home... and Read the Bible to your kids... don't just be a "preacher"...

I always think of Hophni and Phineas...and Eli...

They became so accustomed to the things of God that it became boring so they "found" something to do...

Don't allow your kids to be inactive and think your doing them a favor...find something for them to do... in Church.. be Involved... be interactive with the other kids...

Let them learn how to live for God...Don't live for God for them... because when they leave the nest... very few know how to fly...

you may agree or disagree... these are just some of my thoughts..
