I believe you "may" drink in very light moderation and not sin.
However, I c ame from an family where my mom died of alcoholism, and where I was heading in that direction in my teens.
With alcoholism being a very real problem in society, to not be a stumbling block to my brother/sister, and to leave out the possibility that I may over imbibe and do something stupid and sin, and perhaps lose my soul, I believe it is much "Wiser" to "Abstain."
Abstinence is the way to go.
