Your subject line is a wise desire, as is the last paragraph of your post!
Many times through the years I have had friends, neighbors, etc. to ask
me to pray for a specific desire they wanted. When I would say, "Let's
just pray for God's Will in this matter", they would say to the effect that
they just knew it was God's will for this and that, and what they wanted
me to do was to agree in Jesus Name they would get what they wanted.
Trusting that our Great God knows what is best for us and to be able to
sincerely trust our lives and wills into His care takes so much pressure off
of us, His precious people!!! To trust Him is to love Him, to love Him is to
obey Him. To obey Him is to receive His best, for He gives His best to those
who leave (trust) the choice with Him.
