Just like the long lines and upgraded security procedures in airports, it's just something that is done for splash and flash to make all the sheeple feel like the problem is being taken seriously and something is being done. All the while any intelligent person can see that none of these measures are capable of stopping somebody whose desire to kill exceeds their desire to live. Remember when they found that huge number of cargo handlers at Miami international were illegals? There's a back door to be exploited in every such situation.

It's all part of the implementation of the nanny state.
