Romney was the only one in the race that offered a little something to each of the three legs of the stool of the Republican coalition of fiscal conservatives, cultural conservatives, and defense/military conservatives.

Easy now, Romney was hardly a cultural conservative. He did more for gays and abortion rights than any governor before him. Huckabee was a good choice, had he shored up his foreign policy he would have been the pick of the litter.
