But wouldn't it be correct to help people get built up in their faith in Christ rather than their emotions, because emotions will betray us but our personal faith in Christ will keep us in times of distress.
Should Christian churches help to build people's personal faith in Christ or build up their emotions ?
First and foremost, yes, a persons personal faith should be the first prioity of the church and/or ministry. Through sound, Bible based teaching, our personal faith in Christ in girded up so to speak. Also, a continual prayer life builds our faith: Jud 1:20 ¶ But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

However, sometimes, as we go through life, we tend to get a little "emotionally dormant". Our prayer life, our Bible study, even our joy becomes mundane and repetitive unless we are given an "emotional charge" from time to time. Thats where a balance is needed. Churches and/or ministries that tend to appeal to peoples emotions too much tends to have "shallow" Christians who aren't deeply rooted in the Word.Their diet consiste of the "milk of the Word". But those whose faith is made strong through a steady diet of "meaty" teaching and preaching is more solid and can weather the storms of life more consistently.
