I am a self-avowed chauvinist perhaps too old to change if I wanted to, but I know many younger men who have quit trying to be a "gentleman" because of women who have bitten their head off when they tried to be courteous and told them it was demeaning and they could take care of themselves.
Unfortunately with all the mixed signals is it no surprise that so many of our young men have given up in confusion.

Don't change! I'm sure your wife appreciates the way you treat her. I prefer to be treated courteous.
Recently, my boss and I were out of town and we were downtown walking to a restaurant, I was on the outside by the road and my boss made me move to the inside because he said, no man should let a women walk on the outside near the road. I thought it was funny at the time and then the more I thought about it, I thought he is correct. He says he is
old school. He always opens the car door when we go somewhere. Well, I will take the old school treatment any day!
