Both men and women could take the vow.
Both men and women let their hair grow for the period of the vow and afterwards shaved off the hair and offered a sacrifice.
The Apostle Paul is spoken of as shaving his head after a (Nazirite) vow in
Acts 18:18. Paul also later "sponsored" or paid for the animal sacrifices in the Temple at Jerusalem for four men (
Acts 21:23-25) who had taken a Nazirite vow.
Samson (
Judges 13:5), Samuel (
1 Samuel 1:11), and maybe John the Baptist (
Luke 1:15) were Nazirites all their lives because of being dedicated to that life by their parents.
