Personal preference would be just that: one's personal preferance. When I read that someone would rather individual's of different races not marry, yet not force it on them, then it is just that: personal preference.
I already know what you are going to say to this, but if you are not from around Louisiana and Mississippi, you really have no clue as to why a pastor would talk to someone about this. I know of no one that would NOT marry inidividuals due to race. I do know some that have already passed on that felt that way. I know of men that are trying their hardest to get black people in their church and cannot due to the history that exist in the south. There are still black churches and white churches. Whites do not feel comfortable in a black church and blacks do not feel comfortable in a white church. Yes, racism is very much a factor there. And for that reason, some men feel it better to not encourage interracial marriages.
Again, I know of no one that has not married an individual due to race alone.
