I just feel we have visitors to our church and I have seen women that wear pants I have no problem with this as they are womens pants not mens pants and they show less skin than a skirt. but they come one sunday and then do not come back I know they feel out of place but what can the church do to keep people coming back. I have seen this many time over the years. My experience is that though they might feel different about the pants issues I am not certain that is the only thing keeping them away. Our churches are losing memebers like you wouldn't believe. I saw stats from Barna Research that Non-Denominal churches are gaining memebers while denominations are losing. I know that my church specifically have lost lots of members. As have others around us. The non-denoms are growing in size and some of them follow oneness teaching except the strict judemental dress code and similar things. Some of the largest churches here are of the oneness background but nothing like a UPC church. Comfort level is key. Even if a church believes certain things are heaven and hell make the church accomodating to visitors and then once they join teach them. I am affraid the big down fall is that people can feel the judgemental spirit looking their way greater than the spirit of God moving.
