Amen, it does have to be applied many many times throughout our lives. It is something completed and finished that we must refer to and appeal to over and over again.
This reminds me of some thoughts about the finished work. I just shared some thoughts yesterday with someone who is a recovering backslider and we spoke about his need to understand he does not owe God anything, since the cross paid it all. He has to sincerely repent and forskae sin, but he does not OWE God due to the finished work.
