The Vineyard church where I went from 1992-2006 gives away turkeys each year. They give out bags (I think it's boxes this year) with a list of stuff needed for a Thanksgiving meal for a family. People fill the bags with the stuff, then the Vineyard adds a turkey and they are delivered. I did that a couple of years. One year I took small grandchildren with me to help me carry stuff. It was neat to go to a house, give the food, and then pray for whatever needs they had there. In 2007 they reached 803 families. the goal this year is to serve 1,200 families in need. Think about that, 1200 families will receive a turkey and the fixins to go with it. And if they will let them, the people who deliver it will pray with them and for them in their homes. The Vineyard is a neat church. Their idea is to demonstrate the love of God in a practical manner. In case you are interested you can access their web site at:

The Church where I am going now (since spring 2006) is called "The Hamilton Dream Center." We are a small church but we will give away 50 turkeys this year. Earlier this fall we gave away hundreds of back packs filled with school supplies. A couple of weeks ago we gave away coats. Later we will give away gifts for Christmas. On Wednesdays we have about 100 children who come for Super Kids Church. We provide dinner for them before the service.
