Living in AZ we are going to go with a fake one. It is a little costly, but will last many years.... AND we can get one that is a good 9-10 foot tall.

I always use an artificial tree. The reason being - when I was growing up we had to put up a 13 foot "real" tree every year. My mother made us hang each icicle - one by one! Try taking that down with all those ornaments. No more prickly trees for me - ever again!
