fasting, done correctly, can be benefical to the body.
I'm not talking about starvation but deprivation of things that are harmful to us is a good start to getting healthy.
Obesity in and of itself is not a sin. overindulgence to the point of damage to our bodies, soul, mind and spirit - not being good stewards of the bodies God has intrusted us with - not being good employees, saints, citizens, neighbors....all those things are sinful.
Obesity alone is not - there are other factors involved that cannot be singled out as overindulgence or gluttony.
The only straight answer to this question is NO - at face value, it's not a sin.
But unhealthy lifestyle choices, I personally feel are sinful - they go against everything a christian should be...
