A ghost writer will finish a manuscript or edit a rough draft. Normally they will do most of the writing, but they do use information that gets credited to the author.
They also do the research, but seldom write anything that hasn't been added by the author.
They are mainly hired by people that don't have writing skills or the time to put a book together.
A publishing company also hires ghostwriters to increase their book sales by having them write and then publish the work under a well-known name.
They get paid royalty, by the page or settle on a flat fee.
That would have to be just way interesting!
