A more relevant version of the above may be,
"It is particularly disappointing when the prosecution system of the United States has a higher ethical code than the church, and has to (attempt to) nail someone whom the church should have already disciplined, but due to favoritism and cronyism did not."
It's easy for you to generalize about how to take the HIGH ROAD before you know the greater context of this scandal. Check the archives for some background (some firsthand) circa 2/2007, since you are so concerned with defending the innocent.
