I have enjoyed the new relationship I have with God since an unfortunate series of events forced me out of a life of finding safety in church iteself and pushed me squarely into His presence.
I have thought negatively, in the past, of the Children of Israel in the wilderness longing for the leeks & the garlic of their captivity. But experience has found me in their shoes more than I would like to admit.
I love where I am. It is the greatest relationship with God I have ever had. But the life I had before did have it's advantages. The rules are laid out. It is all cut and dried. No need to form your own convictions.
I have to admit that sometimes, albeit not often, I find myself thinking back fondly on the days my eyes were less open. Looking back to days when someone else worked these things out for me.
But then I come to my senses and realize that trudging my way through this wilderness on my way to a promised land serves me the same purpose it did for the Children of Israel. It works out the ways of a slave and prepares me to be what I need to be to possess the land.
I have to remember that the "spices" of that day were handed to me by masters and then I find myself happy to continue on.
