If you don't believe all that stuff you were taught years ago you are now on the the slippery slope and in really big trouble with God, especially if any of the changes you are making have anything to do with standards (unless you are making them stricter and stricter of course). Stepping outside of the box was a blessing and a curse.

blessing: Observing things from the outside I was able to see a lot of things. It was apparent to me that many times we as a movement tend to strain at a gnat, and deny that we have swollowed the camel. With the guidance of God, I learned that rules can change, but principles stay the same.


curses: I lost friends. This has been the lonliest and most fearful time of my young life. Life became a rollercoaster.


and now: I'm not very liberal, but I'm not the UC that I once was.


how has it helped: It has helped me gain a sense of balance. Some things are a way of life.. others are just a way of living.
