I think the position is something like this:

For district functions, our platform guidelines prohibit facial hair on men, because of perceptions of the possible symbolism. Since it is a cultural rather than a scriptural issue, in the local church I handle this matter according to Romans 14. . . There is room for legitimate differences of opinion on this matter, but not ridicule or condemnation.
