Church Names
Regarding the naming of churches, local in particular...Do you think the Apostles and first church people would find it odd or wrong or right that we name our churches wth names like New Life, Revival Center, or ???

I would'nt much care what they thought. It's 2007 almost 8
We remamed our church 6 years ago in hopes our name on the sign out front would influence the comunity to come in.
We are "New Life Christian Church"

I think they would take one look at a phone book and feel despair over the infinite sectarianism that has taken place over the last 2000 years.
Either that, or they would pick up a phone and spend endless hours talking to one another and playing with the buttons. Pizzas would soon begin showing up mysteriously at places listed as "Saint Paul's Church" because Peter was known to be a real prankster.

You know it is funny, so many churches emulate Alexandria, the church closest to me is called <<<<<<<<<<<< Tabernacle, The Pentecostals of Denver. Too bad the other UPC churches didn't decide to do this first, then what would we be called, the OTHER pentecostals of Denver? Whadda joke.
The absolute best names for churchs are from the Lutherans.
Here are some others for consideration...
The Fire Escape
The Ladder out of Hell
Holiness or Hell Ministries

A church near here (Mt. Zion Baptist Church) use to be called "Icyhot" Church. Would love to know how that church was named.
