When God Says No

I hate it when God doesn't answer a prayer the way I had hoped He would. I know we're supposed to be good little Christians and just accept His will, but it still aggravates me when He doesn't do something I've asked Him to do. What say ye? Am I headed to Hell for being pigheaded?

Re: When God Says No

It's just human nature to be disappointed I guess...

Our lesson this past Sunday was about seeking God's face instead of his hand.

I wish I could have gotten it on tape or CD. I need to hear it again myself!

One of the comments the teacher brought out was that sometimes we ask God for things that we know we don't need. When he doesn't give us the answer we want, we whine about it. What we should be doing is seeking God's face.... and rejoicing and being thankful for the things he does give us instead of whining about the things that he doesn't give.

No you are not. My belief is that if you ask God for something and He doesn't give you that thing than it is a vote from God that you didn't need it. That being said it ain't easy when you ask for it and don't receive it. I DO think it is very healthy to ask Him why. You would ask your spouse why about something similar. God is the only one you can ask the REAL hard questions to. If you don't understand His answer I believe if you ask Him why that outcome happened I am sure He will show you. It might not be right away though.

How do you know you didn't need it? Maybe He just didn't like the way you asked it? Maybe he just doesn't like you. Maybe he just wanted to kick you while you were down. Maybe He's just mean and capricious and arbitary. Or maybe he doesn't even exist at all. Maybe He's just a great big figment of your imagination.

Now Rico, that is a small sampling of what goes through my head about a billion times a day. So if anyone is pig-headed and hell-bound, well I don't think its you!

I sometimes doubt God's existence but then recall recieving the holy ghost and speaking in tongues. I know it was a supernatural experience and that helps me get through the times when God doesn't answer prayer.

Sister, the more you share about what goes on in your head, the more I am starting to believe that you are being buffeted by a spirit.

I can relate to that. Though I have doubted just about everything having to do religion, and though I have often questioned whether God was any good, I have really never questioned His existance.

I know you are serious, so I will skip the joke about how the only time I buffet-ed is when I eat at the Golden Corall!

It's hard for me to know how to react to your statement, when I have not yet decided how I feel, and/if I even believe in such a possibility.

Re: When God Says No

This is gonna sound petty, but you need to know beforehand that I do pray about little things as well as big things. Anyway, I was scheduled to work 6 hours today. I got very little sleep las night, and am not in the mood to deal with selling people insurance over the phone today. Because of how we set up our schedules with this work from home job I do, we are free to release our hours any time we want. It's one of perks of being self employed. The only catch is that someone else has to claim those hours or I am still responsible for working them. That's fair, so I am not complaining about that. We schedule ourselves for 30 minute commits, which means someone, anyone, has to click on that spot on the schedule page for me not to have to work those 30 minutes. I prayed and asked God for someone to come along and take those hours because I didn't want to work today. Well, no one was taking my commits, and I started getting aggravated about it. Someone finally did take a good chunk of those commits, so it looks like I only have another 30 minute commit to work later on this afternoon. Since I griped about it publicly, I think it's only fair that I should thank God publicly for the commits that were taken. Thank you Jesus.
