You have to watch this. Everyone is saying it was an accident and that the ref was protecting himself, but the ref steps forward INTO the QB and nails him...not a bad hit hehe
He definitely moved with the flow of the play and delivered a hit. I pointed out on another forum that I think the problem is that they had him reffing basically in the same position he played in. It is probably not the smartest thing to put a former linebacker behind the defensive line...basically in the same position he played in for years. It looks like he had a brain freeze and did what he had been instinctively doing for years.
I love how he showed gap discipline and filled the lane then delivered a hit

My only complaint was the ref didn't do a good job of wrapping up. For a former linebacker, he needs to work on his fundamentals.
The ref did Garcia a favor as Garcia was about to get absolutely hammered by two LSU defenders.
South Carolina scored a touchdown on the drive so the ref's forearm shiv was irrelevant to the outcome of the game - a solid LSU win on the road.
Actually it served South Carolina right - Spurrier draws up plays where SC attempts to use officials as "screens" blocking off the defender.
Backfired this time.
LOL I hadn't thought of that. That may have been why the qb wasn't upset. He saw what was bearing down on him.

To be honest with you S.Carolina should have won that game but they left to much time on the clock for LSU to comeback and score on them.
