So you think you want to be Pastor?

We had a tremendous time of victory and celebration this weekend, preaching, worship, prophecy, fellowship etc.

But sometimes you never know what being a Pastor will bring on any given day. Today I stepped into the shoes of being an advocate, peacemaker, conflict resolution expert, etc.

A saint in our church, called me in tears this morning, it seems that her Grandmother's house was raided by the County Sheriff in the process of having a search warrant served. The problem was during the raid/serving of the search warrant (looking for a Armed Robbery Suspect who gave the address as his house), her Developmentally Disabled Uncle (Fancy Word for Retarded) was thrown to the ground, face bruised and his wrist fractured. He had nothing to do with any criminal activity, just standing in the living room apparently in the way of those officers wanting to get another part of the house.

He only speaks spanish, has limited congnitive ability and of course was traumatized by having men in black suits rush into your house. Needless to say the whole family and the saint was upset.

So I got on the phone calling the various local law enforcement agencies trying to get some facts, finally this afternoon got a call from a Detective, I requested they send some representative over to the house tonight to apologize, offer some type of rememdy for his injuries and to calm the family down.

I want to advocate and honor authority but at the same time the rights of this Developmentally Disabled person were violated in my opinion.

This was something they don't teach you in Bible College, so do you still want to be a Pastor.

Wow, I feel like Al Sharpton.

Would love to have Newman comment about this.

A pastor, at one time I thought I would... but today, no. It's too much pressure and stress.
An evangelist, maybe... maybe

The police are rapidly abusing thier powers & we are headed towards a Police State.
We had a recent incident in which cops raided a house thinking it was a grow op & ended up breaking in on a kids birthday party & shooting the family dog!

I am all for Police Authority but they need to get thier facts straight.

I could tell you stories!

BTW, yes Keith, the average person has no understanding of what a Pastor goes through, if they did, you see them a little more temperate in thier comments!

Okay, off of my soapbox!

You know when you see these folks you can tell they are mentally handicapped. This is so sad. In one way we need the protection of law enforcement and they need to do their job.

So I can understand how this man could have gotten injured in the process, but still, they broke the poor man's wrist and he doesnt have a clue as to why.

I still would like to be a pastor, but things haven't worked out, but if God desires for me to pastor He'll open a door.

This was a terrible situation ,but our dear Pastor was there for the people.
And you don't have to be in a pulpit to be used of God.
