Question What do you believe

I felt that Deep Waters was a good place to start this thread...

I know you are in the Pentecostal group, however your beliefs are some what different then any Pentecostals that I know.I did read from the Admin.about the oneness theory,so I don't suppose we will go there.
So what makes you different in your beliefs? What places you aside from the regular old Pentecostal?
You don't have that wife in training stuff do you?I read you people were some what of a cult(SORRY) I didn't say it,just read that.I don't know, I like you people and some of your ideals.
Exactly what is Apostolic belief?

Re: What do you believe

Difference between us and say, the Assembly of God:

Oneness
Baptism MUST be done in the name of Jesus, not just saying "Father, Son and Holy Ghost"
Many believe that you aren't saved until after you have done all three things - repented, been baptized (in Jesus name) and have received the gift of the Holy Ghost, evidenced by tongues

And then, the dress standards - no pants, cut hair, or makeup for women, men's hair must be short (above the ears), and more. They're called "holiness standards".

Many Apostolics no longer require the dress standards.

Many Apostolics don't believe in owning a television or watching movies.

That's a quick summary, and not all Apostolics believe alike.

The biggies are the Oneness of God and mode of baptism.

Easter,
The Apostolic teaching/doctrine comes from what the Apostles taught in
the book of Acts. The Acts of the Apostles.

In the 24th chapter of Luke, starting about the 44th verse, Jesus is giving
last minute instructions after his resurrection, to his chosen disciples or
apostles. He's telling them that these are the words that He spoke to them
while He was yet with them, that all things must be fulfilled, which were
written concerning him, in the law of Moses, in the prophets, and in the
psalms. Then Jesus opened their understanding, that they might understand
the scriptures. He told them that it was written and that it behoved Christ
to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day. And that repentance and
remission of sins should be preaced in his name, among ALL nations,(how
many nations were represented in Jerusalem, during Pentecost.) beginning
at Jerulsalem. He told them they were witnesses of these things. He told
them that HE was sending the promise of His Father upon them But wait/
tarry in Jerusalem until they were endured with power from on high. Or un-
til they had received the Holy Ghost. Now, go to Acts. Luke wrote Acts too.

Acts 1:8, it is being explained what was said unto them by Jesus before he
ascended. "But ye shall received power, after that the Holy Ghost is come
upon you and that they would be his witnesses unto him, in Jerusalem and
in Samaria. and unto the uttermost part of the earth".

What was the difference in Peter who denied Jesus a few days earlier and
after Pentecost! He was enpowered by receiving the Holy Ghost. He and
John were bold at the gate Beautiful. Went to jail, got out and started
preaching again. They had been made bold witnesses because of the Holy
Ghost coming upon them.

Blessings,

What if you have the Holy Spirit but never spoke in tongue?
You know tongues is one of the Gifts of the Spirit, not every Holy Spirit filled believer is going to receive the same gifts.
Say I might have the gift of healing but didn't speak in tongue,or the gift of tongues but had no Faith,or had faith to move a mountain, but I didn't speak in tongue.
Well I could understand if someone was baptised and started speaking in tongue, this will increase their faith, right?
What happens if someone is baptised and they don't speak in tongue?Do they keep on until it takes? What happens if the Holy Spirit don't give them this gift but another gift but because someone is baptised and never speaks in tongue and they decide that God won't filled them with the Holy Spirit,so they give up thinking they are not good enough and by giving up,they quit following God because they are in despair because they were told that if they are baptised, they will receive tongues and they never, ever do.
This is a stumbling block, you do realize this.
I don't wear makeup, not because it goes against my faith.I just don't care for the way it feels when I have put it on.
My daughter is a hair stylist,so the whole time she was in collage,I was the guinea Pig.Hair is just that,Hair.Has nothing to do with my walk with the Lord, except he knows how many hairs I have.
The Oneness theory, well my thought on that is God the Father,God the Son,and God the Holy Spirit.God is God and he can be all things because after all,he is God,Right?
What about the wife in training?Do the Apostolic practice this?
The T.V,well there is a lot of garbage on the T.V and with this I agree. What about Fox News,Glenn Beck or PERRY STONE?
I think by not watching somethings will keep someone ignorant to the times were in.
Have you ever wondered how the whole world will hear /see the two witnesses? Now I'm a pre trib but for you all that plan on going through it all,you better get yourself a T.V or you'll miss watching the witnesses at the wailing wall.
I'm just saying.....

Question Re: What do you believe

Another question is

Genesis 1:26
Who do you think that God was speaking to?
Angels? We are not made in the image of Angels,we are made in God's image. So who was God referring to when he said"Let (US) make man in our image?
Kinda interesting to speculate on who he was talking to,as far as I've researched, there is no answer in the Bible,(EXCEPT)?

Re: What do you believe

I've never heard of wife-in-training. What's that?

As for your other questions, do some searches on this site and you'll see much debate on all of the points you've raised.

Re: What do you believe

There is a difference between being baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues and the "gift" of tongues and interpretation. The baptism of the Holy Ghost is your "power plug" - the power to overcome, to be taught, etc. The gift of tongues and interpretation is to encourage the congregation in the Lord. My granddaughter was baptized in Holy Ghost Thursday night - her reaction: Now I have my own language! and my reply: That only God can understand! She's very happy with that!!!!

Well I don't really know what a wife in training is.I pulled up a site that was talking about this belief here and it said "Apostolic belief separates their members from their families in order to(Now I DIDN'T say this) brain wash the members and new wives were put in this thing called(wife in training)for about a year.
I thought this was funny because I trained my husband, and he's still in training 25 years later
After I read all this I was a little bit curious as to you all.I myself don't see any brain washing going on,although some here could use a little,I'm just joking.I like this forum because you guys are real and you ask questions.I like that,God is not in a Box,so to speak.

I know there is a difference in the evidence of tongue and the gift of tongue.Does everyone receive the evidence of tongues when their filled with the Holy Spirit?Just what is the evidence of tongues?Do you speak it with your mouth or does your Spirit,do you know if your Spirit has a prayer language to bear witness to the Holy Spirit?I guess what I'm getting at is I don't speak in tongues, never have but I have the Holy Spirit and that I do know!
