The airports carry really nice ones. You should ask them.

Re: Metal Detectors

This one works pretty well.

Not only will it detect magnetic fields, but sub-space fluctuations and tachyon emissions as well, not to mention life signs.

Re: Metal Detectors

I have a Garrett GTA 550. Nice detector. It ran around $600 when I bought it. I've used it on the beach and solid land. Works well and I'll found some good stuff. No gold yet.

My oldest find to date is an 1875 Seated liberty dime.

Yes, it can tell you what coin you have detected and the approximate depth, with very accurately. It also lets you discriminate different metals such as iron and aluminum. You can even set it to only alert you for a particular coin such as a quarter or dime.

I enjoy getting out and hunting "treasure".

Re: Metal Detectors

For the record, I am thinking about getting my son a nice metal detector also. I know very little about them and do NOT want to get the cheapest one I can find (neither the most expensive).
