My many Infractions

Over the years there has been a lot of "rough and tumble" and even some good natured jesting. I can get caught up in the hilarity as much as anyone.

I currently have 4 "Infractions" and "Warnings" on my AFF account. For purposes of review, here are the offending posts. In some cases the post was modified by admin. I will provide you with the original offending language whenever this has occurred. I only ask that you compare my "Infractions" and the things I said to "earn" an infraction with some of the insulting and derogatory tone that pervades many poster's communications today.

An "additional note:" When a post is tagged as an "Infraction" a RED CARD appears with the post in the lower right hand corner. A YELLOW CARD is given for a "Warning."

The Infractions of Pelathais:

Called another poster out on his "misrepresentation" of a UPC Youth Conference service. A "warning" was issued but the offending poster who told an outright... "misrepresentation" ... was never warned or otherwise challenged. I was sticking up for the UPC on this one. The "charge" was "Insulting Another Member."

On this post I was celebrating the victory of a local baseball club that clinched the first World Series appearance in franchise history. The offending term I used was "Freaking World Series Baby!."

On the next one I was "encouraging" "Pastor Poster" to "tear him another corn chute..." The him was the poster known as Daniel Alicea. Because I had already received a warning for saying "Freaking World Series Baby!" - when I used the phrase "corn chute" I was dinged with an outright infraction. An admin inserted the "calm down..." statement.

I really have no idea about the next one, except that I was sticking up for the UPC again (do I sense a trend?). The poster whose baseless allegations I was challenging turned out to be an Admin, but I needed a PM at the time to point that out to me. He posted under a large number of pseudonyms.

Decorating crude language with "freaking" and "tear another corn chute" doesn't mitigate or make what you are saying any less offensive. It makes the reader think a little more and in their mind put it in the more common vernacular and then get offended. It may be cute but doesn't lessen the tasteless of the comment. JMHO.

Re: My many Infractions

Would you like me to post my infraction?

What's the point,Pel? Are you trying to bring to the court of public opinion your innocency? do you think you are being unjustly punished by the powers that be?

Uhmm... the "crude language" that was "decorated" with "Freaking" was the phrase "World Series." The "corn chute" phrase was intended as vernacular, even "hill billy like" in nature as I was watching two friends have it out.

Re: My many Infractions

FWIW, I don't understand why you received an infraction for the very last post you gave the link to either.

Freaking is a polite word used for another impolite word which I don't get offended by when used by nonChristians. And corn chute, yuck, just simply gross is the picture it conjures up but still another phrase that slightly elevates a more coarse wording. And like I said, Pel, this is my opinion of that kind of language. I don't get all bent out of shape about you using it. I just don't find it edifying, nor does it honor our Maker.

By "decorated" I didn't mean you were using it as an adjective but in place of another word like a synonym. If I spell out those other words, then I'll get an infraction!!

How many infractions can you get before you receive a ban?
