Re: Pastor John's Reaction ?
This is like pitchers throwing grapefruits, and not very realistic. A pastor with 15 years' experience and a degree in theology would likely not behave that way.
The pastor was obviously in error, but that's how this simulation was set up. Whether we like it or not, the days of of a pastor saying, "Do what I say because I say it" are mostly over, except in rare cases. If the pastor truly believed in his position, and truly didn't have time, he should have scheduled an appointment with Sister Shelly and discussed his position in the Scriptures (is "Sister" supposed to be capitalized -- the "Brother" "Sister" thing always seemed kind of communistic to me ("Comrade")).
However, Sister Shelly could also have handled it better. When he didn't respond in the way she wanted, she seemed to attack the pastor, and put him on the defensive. She could have been much more diplomatic. However, it makes you wonder if that's the response she was truly seeking to confirm her own beliefs about the pastor.
